RAPS transporting 10 cats thanks to forward thinking by their person.
Recently, we’ve been telling you about ongoing rescue operations. Our expert trappers have been rescuing scores of kittens and cats, including pregnant mamas from a mobile home community in Langley.
We continue to trap and to assess and treat each of these animals, ensuring that whatever they need, we deliver. On top of this, we recently welcomed 11 cats from Victoria after the woman who was caring for them on behalf of a wonderful rescue organization discovered she is facing a serious health crisis.
Now we have a different kind of rescue operation underway. In the coming days, we will welcome 10 cats from Texas. A mother-daughter team from RAPS is on their way to Texas to transport this family of felines to new lives in British Columbia.
Yes, it seems like a long way for felines to travel, but animals come to RAPS from many places and for many reasons.
Sometimes they come to us because they face euthanasia in other jurisdictions – and our no-kill promise ensures that they will live a long and happy life.
Other times, animals come to us because their humans made provisions for their care in the event they were unable to provide for them.
In this case, their person has just gone into hospice care.
Some time ago, a wonderful woman in Texas made arrangements in advance that her beloved pets would be cared for should they need it. She made provisions in her will and through an agreement with RAPS that the animals be transported and cared for by us if or when the time came.
In the coming days, we’ll be sharing the story of their journey with you.
For now, we want to remind you that planning ahead, as this woman did, is vital for the well-being of your pets.
Often, RAPS steps in when an animal’s person is incapacitated or passes away. These are the lucky ones. Sadly, in far too many instances when people do not make provisions for their pets, the results can be tragic.
For every eventuality, we have resources to help you be prepared.
We have a recorded webinar on planned giving and preparing for the care of your pets after your passing. Watch it here.
We urge you to spend a few moments watching this video about how to ensure the wellbeing of your pets when making your estate planning decisions.
We also have information on planned giving opportunities – including ways that you can see tax benefits today and gifts to your cherished causes after you are gone.
