Volunteers and visitors who have had stressful moments finding parking and maneuvering around the entryway to the RAPS Cat Sanctuary will be delighted to know about upgrades now underway!

Visitors, volunteers and other humans who frequent the RAPS Cat Sanctuary will be seeing pleasant changes in the coming days, weeks and months.

Upgrades are underway inside and around the facilities.

Hundreds of cats – and their human helpers – take quite a toll on buildings and grounds.

The decks on the single wide and double wide houses need replacing, which will require the ripping up of plywood, then putting down cork, new plywood and finally long-lasting durable vinyl.

After 20 or 25 years, the flooring has withstood a lot and it is time for renewal.

In the rear pens, there are significant divots and holes where cats have dug or burrowed and where other incidental dips and crannies could catch a human ankle and make for a painful twist. Those need to be filled in, compacted, levelled and seeded with grass.

The most visible – and in-demand – reno will see the parking area improved!

Volunteers and visitors have struggled with the limited parking area. Storage bins will be removed or relocated so that staff have better and more secure places for cat food, kitty litter and other things that require storage. Other bins will be emptied and removed, making more room for vehicles.

We’ll keep you updated as these changes progress …
