About OUR ANIMAL HOSPITAL
When the RAPS Animal Hospital opened in 2018, it marked a turning point in our story — and in the future of animal care in our community. By bringing veterinary services in-house, we dramatically reduced costly external expenses and redirected those resources to where they matter most: saving lives.
As a community-owned, non-profit hospital, every decision we make is guided by compassion, not profit. This allows us to provide faster, more responsive care for the animals at our Cat Sanctuary, Adoption Centre, and throughout our fostering network — ensuring help is there the moment it’s needed most.
As one of the only veterinary hospitals operated by an animal rescue organization, we’re uniquely positioned to help animals from other shelters and rescues who might otherwise have nowhere to turn.
We’ve also provided millions of dollars in subsidies to households facing financial hardship, because we believe no one should ever have to choose between their budget and their beloved companion’s life.
Every visit helps us save lives, ease suffering, and ensure more animals receive the care they deserve. Together, we’re building a model where quality care is accessible to all — and where every dollar goes back to healing animals and strengthening our community.
We’ve invested millions of dollars in partial and full subsidies so families facing financial hardship never have to make heartbreaking, life-and-death decisions about their beloved animals based on ability to pay. Because love and the best interests of the animal — not income — should determine whether a pet receives care.
The RAPS Animal Hospital offers BC’s only no-interest payment plans, giving families peace of mind when the unexpected happens. Even those who aren’t struggling financially can feel the strain of an emergency bill — and we believe compassionate care should always be within reach.
And because we’re community-owned and non-profit, every dollar you spend stays right here, doing good. All revenues are reinvested directly into programs and services that save and improve the lives of vulnerable animals. Your fees don’t go to shareholders or multinational conglomerates — they go straight back to the animals who need us most.
